An official of the ICCBS said the MoU was aimed at advancing science and technology through bold and collaborative research and education while addressing challenges of national, regional, and global significance. The MoUs were signed with School of Pharmacy, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (SPHUCM) and Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Phytohormones, Hunan Agricultural University (KLPHAU), China.
ICCBS Director Professor Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, SPHUCM Deputy Associate Dean Professor Dr Xinhua Xia and KLPHAU Director Professor D. Langtao Xiao signed the documents on behalf of their institutions at a meeting held at Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) at University of Karachi, on the sidelines of the three-day 9th ANRAP International Seminar that was at the held ICCBS from January 25 to 27, 2019.
Chinese scholars including Professor Dr Wei Wang and other officials from ICCBS were also present on the occasion. "The ICCBS and two leading Chinese institutions intend to work together for their mutual benefit in the field of biological and chemical sciences," said Professor Dr M Iqbal, adding that the MoU would help promote scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries. He said that University of Karachi's ICCBS was one of the most eminent centres of excellence in the country and it is also considered top one of the finest academic research establishments of chemical and biological sciences in the developing world.
The Chinese delegates congratulated him for introducing the world-class research facilities at the Centre. They also visited various state-of-the art laboratories at CBSCR, Jamil-ur-Rahman Centre for Genome Research, HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research.
